I think somebody posted here that it was going to rain Saturday AND Sunday. Oh...wait...It was me. Saturday flying was pathetic. Sunday flying was even less exciting. Drove 6 1/2 hours and got to watch some trainers on both days.
The only excitement was when the paratroopers jumped from the C-46 and misjudged the wind. Three of them got hung up in the trees way off the end of the runway. Heard they were OK but the Va Beach FD couldn't get any ladder truck close because of the swamp that the field became when the "frog-strangler" rain storm hit the area about 1330.

Mudge the disappointed :( :( :(

Thank you to Mr. Yagan and all the folks for putting on the show. I know your disapointment must rank up there with the attendees, but I realize a ground loop or other incident is not worth it on a soggy field. Thanks for trying. If everything had been able to fly it would have been a great show! I hope you can get the Lancaster there again next year. I realize it would cut down on the static numbers, but perhaps staging a few planes out of Suffolk may help ensure a few more flyers if the grass field can not support operations. I really enjoy the up close and personal you can get at this show- no keep out/away ropes to be seen- great!

I see in the AM paper that two of the paratroopers were taken to the hospital with "unknown" injuries and the third refused medical attention. The FD/EMS guys were saying that they didn't seem to be too serious.

Well...there's another show in Oct. Maybe....just maybe...

I thought the Boy Scouts that handled the parking and the volunteers did a good job. Many thanks to them.

Speaking of parking. On Sunday I pulled into the "Handicap" parking area. (My back problem allows me to have a permit.) Right behind me, a Hummer pulls in. No permit. The Scout asked the driver to go to the regular parking area. The driver's reply, "But we have a small child with us." I couldn't believe it. Well...yes I could. This generation has become the "ME...ME...ME...crowd.
I wonder if this dude thinks he can get away with that reason if he parks in a signed handicap space. SHEESH!!!

Mudge still damp

ps. We tried to sit where we thought nobody would jump up in front of us to take pictures. You know...the slugs that think they can see something standing up that they can't see sitting down. There's only one show that we've ever been to that this doesn't happen...in the photo pit at Thunder Over Michigan.

Someone was asking about T-shirts up-thread. Orders are being taken for the AvSpecs ones (link via Gavin Conroy of Classic Aircraft Photography).

Thanks for the link but I'm disappointed. When it said the "Avspecs" one I thought it was going to be the "Coming to an airshow near you" movie poster shirt from a while back. The DH logo shirts have been available from other vendors I've seen. Unless I'm missing something but that's what the link brought up?

Sorry, the above link is all the info that I have.
Unfortunately the "Coming to an airshow near you" is currently optimistic?
