Recovered B-24 Landing Gear donated to AAM.

Just saw this posted on the American Airpower museum's Facebook page:

This week AAM was given an Landing gear found in a fisherman's net off the coast of LI. It has been ID'd so far as a main landing gear off of a B-24 Liberator. The Question is if this was found off NY's coast, where is the rest of the plane? And so the Mystery begins!

The 'Agony Wagon' had a nasty reputation as one of the few airplanes you didn't want to ditch or belly land in, so it could be in the area just spread out like mayonnaise at a weight watchers convention.

Any reports of B-24's lost/missing in that area since it is in the general area leading to Canadian Trans Atlantic ferry routes as well as anti submarine patrols.
