Jig design

Fri May 31, 2013 7:53 pm

Was wondering how the restorers might design a jig, say for fuselage or wing rebuilds wen either has to be completely taken apart and then reassembled. I have some projects I'm starting to plan for, and I'd like to know how to design a jig. I understand it's a very broad question, but in all the photos I have seen of restorations, I'm usually impressed by the jigs that were built also.

Find photos of the original fixtures used back in the day. They were designed for ease and speed of building the airframe. They have done all the work for you so just do your best to copy them.
