Does anyone know the status of this restoration? The website has not been updated in 2 years and on the last update it looked pretty complete. Is the whole airframe together yet and are you able to visit? Pics would be great if anyone has some! Thanks for the info.

My Gal Sal is not put together the whole airframe is in a hanger, but the big holdback is the airport. The city of Cincinnati owns it and wants to develope it into a busines park. The city of Blue Ash wants to buy it and developed, but keep part of it as an airport. The city has got the first step done already they no longer recieve federal funding to maitain it. They used to work on Wed and Sat, but those have stopped since they no longer have much left to do. So they are waiting for a place to display it.

Calling Mr. P. Allen, Mr Allen there is a plane in need of saving!

What is the status of the rest of this plane? Engines, airframe history?

Wondering. . . .

It would take alot of money, they did alot of the repairs to very unaiworthy standards as it was never going to fly again.

In what ways was it not put back to airworthy standards? I once heard something about the use of pop-rivets on this restoration.

I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the work, which appears to be excellent. It may have to do with the materials used (heat treated extrusions, documented parts, etc.) and also the level of documented inspections by certificated inspectors that is required for airworthy aircraft. It would be nice to hear from an "IA" A&P technician on this subject, as it has been seen here many times before on this aircraft and others.
