Great uniqiue pics Kim, thanks. A question for the Lightning experts: Is this picture of "Foto Jo" a F-4 Recon Lightning with armament? I thought all F-4/F-5 photo birds were sans main armament.

For those interested in "Foto Jo" (41-2145), she was a well-known 9th Photo Recon Squadron bird. To see more of her and her pilots you will want to spend some time exploring the photo collections at:

http://www.9thprs.org/html/PhotoCollectionsHome.html

(Baugher lists as MIA on Sept. 29, 1944)

Here's "Marge", another 9th PRS F-4, configured similarly to "Foto Jo":

Happy hunting!

Desert Rat ever make it to China? :)

Maybe - note what look like hinges on the side of the glass nose. Only problem is the last two of the serial don't look like 95; the only other one that fits the bill is B-17F/YC-108 42-6036. Per Baugher:
6036 delivered to Long Beach Jun 30, 1943, to Amarillo Jul 7, 1943, to Dallas Aug 9, 1943. Converted to YC-108 as
taxi for Gen Frank Hackett
. Returned to USA Feb 4, 1945. To RFC Augusta, GA Jun 25, 1946.

So I looked up General Hackett's bio, and guess what? From http://www.generals.dk:
1945 Commanding Officer Bengal Air Depot [India]

A match? Either way, photos of the four C-108s are tough to find, except for MacArthur's 41-2593. Kim, could you try do take that photo out of the album and do a higher-res scan on it? Scott Thompson, B-17 researcher extrordinaire, would be very interested in seeing it, I bet!
