Looking for Avro Lancaster Parts

Sat Jul 06, 2013 3:36 pm

Hey everyone, as most of you know we at the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association are restoring Avro Lancaster FM212 to airworthy condition here in Windsor, ON (currently have a restoration thread going in the maintenance forum if you'd like to check it out).

I figured it's a good time to put up another post looking for parts since it has been a while since the last one.

Basically we're looking for just about anything in the way of Lancaster parts, or leads on parts that may be available. One of our biggest focuses at the moment though is trying to track down a nose turret and a rear turret.

We also have a Mosquito restoration/rebuild on the go, anything in the way of parts for that project would be quite helpful as well.

If anyone has anything, or has leads on anything please email me at the address below and we can disuss things in further detail.

Can you take any items off the (several) non-fliers in Canada? I'd like to think that the caretakers of them would be willing to help return one to the skies...number 4?

I think that most of the other static machines, in Canada, have been previously picked over.

Hey Ryan;
Any chance of a few Mosquito photos?

Thanks

We are trying to work on relationships with the none flying groups, and hopefully some things will come out of that in the future.

Andy, I'll get some photos Monday of the Mossie progress and put them up.

I believe someone who frequents the Flypast forum maintains a database on Frazer-Nash survivors. Have you posted your plea there yet?

I don't know if any collectors would be willing to part with their prizes, but if they knew it was going into an actual airframe one never knows.

I have a bunch of interior parts and at least 3 engine mount structures from the firewall back
Interior stuff is still in great condition but the mounts structures are fairly rusted
The firewalls have all the small placards still in place and they are useable

Do you guys have an instrument panel?

Oh BTW I've seen the firewalls and mounts that Cam is talking about. Definitely some usable stuff there.

Looking forward to pics. Thanks Ryan :drink3:

Yup, we have the entire instrument panel in relatively good shape and minus a few instruments. All of the instruments have to be replaced however anyway.

Okay, in all fairness, you didn't specify which Monday.

Have you checked out this guys thread on Key forum?

He's in Canada (not sure where). You guys need him on your crew. He's doing some beautiful work! At least you could be helping each others project with info, drawings, measurements etc...

Check it out.
