DING DING DING!!! Very Good Dan! Oct. 8th 1939, over Jutland, a Lockheed Hudson shot down the first german aircraft claimed by the RAF. Thank you all for playing!

Correctly identify the type of German aircraft the Hudson crew shot down, and I'll rename my youngest daughter "Focke Wulf 149". :D

18 October, a Hudson of 233 Squadron shot down a Dornier Do 18, thereby crediting to Coastal Command the first air-to-air kill of World War II. From this imperfectly co-ordinated but courageous beginning developed the potent maritime air arm that won the Battle of the Atlantic, and in which the anti-shipping campaign played a crucial but oft-forgotten part.
