Flying Legends 2013, Duxford, UK

Wed Jul 10, 2013 3:29 pm

The participation list for Flying Legends 2013 has been published at The Fighter Collection's website: http://fighter-collection.com/cft/

News on Wednesday's arrivals and practices can be found at http://globalaviationresource.com/v2/2013/07/10/news-flying-legends-2013-build-up-100713/

Looks good to me - down on numbers from previous years, but a lot of European aircraft are either unserviceable (Lightning, Spitfire PR.XIX etc.) or simply can't come, not a lot the organisers can do about that. I'm sure it'll be as good a show as ever! Highlights would have to be P-51D Moonbeam McSwine's UK début, the Horsemen in Spitfires and the new French Hurricane.

I beg to differ, the highlight will be two Gloster Gladiators flying together for the first time for quite a while

Not to mention four assorted prewar Hawker bipes. We've never seen a comparable gathering of 1930s fighting planes in the U.S. I'm not sure one could be assembled even theoretically.

Indeed, the 2 x Gladiators and 4 x Hawker biplanes are what I'm looking forward too.

Then there's 'The Boss's' last public displays this weekend, which very much marks an end of an era for Legends......

Interesting that SG is opening the displays in his beloved Bearcat rather than doing his usual 'joker' routine while the Balbo forms up.
