T-28

Hello folks! I don't post here much, but am always an interested reader of goings on in the warbird world! I have always wanted to rebuild a warbird, but budget is always a problem for me. I am specifically interested in T28 models. Anyone have any leads on complete projects for sale that are cheap(in the USA)? I am interested in as complete as possible/corrosion free as possible. Specific model A/B/C/D/F not that important. Thanks for any leads!

Not a complete project, but a good starting point:

Thanks, I saw it, and have been pretty interested in it. However, I think it was in a grass fire?? See posts from WIX about turning a 28 into a car...there were two planes, one went to a museum, the other getting turned into a car. One of the pictures on Barnstormers is the exact airplane that the guy is supposedly turning into a car. It was an explainable mixup, and the actual plane looks better in my opinion than the one on barnstormers. BUT, if it was in a grass fire, how compromised is the aluminum structure?

Having restored more than a few T-28's, I can assure you that Cheap and T-28 restoration do not belong in the same sentence.

The T-28 is an extremely complex aircraft from a restoration standpoint. The last T-28 grand champion restoration I was involved with exceeded 22,000 man hours (excluding avionics, engine and accessories).

e mail or call me if you would like to discuss T-28's on a level that I will not attempt on this forum.
