The Snow Crusier would be quite a display today, but consensus is that it was on a chunk of ice shelf that broke away in 1982. It's on the ocean bottom now.
However, Byrd did leave a Curtis Condor stranded during that expedition.

Maybe Ford should pick up the design. That looks great to drive kids to school and to sports practice in suburban areas during the summer.

I've often wondered about the Curtiss Condor....Does anyone know about where it is? Has it been buried so much that it would be flatter than the B-17s with Glacier Gal? What a joy that would be to see one flying again!!!!

BTW Didn't the Snow Cruiser feature in a Clive Clusser novel.. Methinks it was Atlantis Found (along with a couple of U-boats!)

Fasinating story and a great vehicle. It is a pity that it did not survive.
IMHO I think that the Stagger wing is one of the best looking American aircraft ever. Not only is it good looking it must have been very powerful to lift the snow cruiser too!!!

Clive Cussler seems to have a knack for working history into his novels! That and his Excellent charecters and story lines keeps me coming back. And I have to say that the big screen treatment of Sahara wasn't bad either. At least my girlfriend(also a big Cussler Fan) and I enjoyed it! I now return this thread to it rightfull owner.............
