If it were a stearman on wheels (and not the Tiger Moth), then it was probably the N2S-3. His N3N is on a float.

Here's a pic of the DH-89 that I took in March. What a cool plane!

The volunteer seemed especially proud of this plane. Hope it's going to a good home.

In Israel's War of Independence in 1948 they used the DH-89 as ground support aircraft, jury rigging machine guns and bomb racks (for 100 pound bombs) on them.

It's great to see how US aeroplane fans have come to love that DH89 Dragon Rapide, a type almost unknown to most Americans I believe. This one is almost certainly the finest example in the world too, the new owner will enjoy it I'm sure.

Having seen both examples, my vote would go to Mark Miller's, which even wears its original wartime colour scheme and was a labour of love for him and his father for two decades. But I agree, the ex-Yagen one is a real beauty too.

Fair enough, I have not seen that one. I have seen a lot of nice looking restored classic aircraft though and this one in the King's Flight colours was outstanding in every aspect.

Anyone know what the asking price was for the Rapide? Any news yet on where it is going?

Its already in the FF hangar preparing to leave and it was more than just one volunteer who said it was sold...

While I was there, I was also told that unfortunately, the pilot of the JU-52 had passed away two weeks prior in a motorcycle accident at the age of 48. I am not sure if they have other pilots for the JU or not, but from the way the volunteer talked, he was their only one.

I'd be suprised if they only had one.....doesn't the Ju-52 require two pilots in the first place?
