Vultee Vengeance dive bomber project in Australia

Mon Jul 22, 2013 6:44 am

On the weekend i was told that a Vultee Vengeance warbird rebuild project in Australia under way for a owner in US has been maybe brought by an Australian warbird owner.
Whether this rebuild remains in Australia is exported i wasnt told anymore. I was told the owner has a few other rare warbirds and these are all planned to be exported at some point?

Anyone know who this project this friend of mine could be referring to? I have my possibilities but left wondering.

I believe that was Jerry Yagen's Vengeance.

Well, I think the projects will stay here in Australia and be completed to a static condition.

just my opinion

Shame about it becoming a static, as it would have been nice to have seen a Vengeance in flight.

Most likely the understatement of the day.

Camden had one that was virtually complete and there was either one or two projects at Murray G's (?) operation a couple of years ago.

These are the MG remains.

Better to have them in static condition on dispaly inside and preserved for future restoration that to sit outside in many pieces and deteriorate any furhter.

I'd love to see one fly, but small steps I guess.

Anybody still happen to have any of the photos of the Vengeance remains at Murray Griffiths? There was a gallery of them online sometime ago, but it appears to be gone now.

Should anybody need one for a restoration, I have a Vengeance hydraulic reservoir tank in good condition.

Is A27-247 a Vultee or Northrop built ship? I believe that the Camden Vengeance is a Northrop.

Yes, the Camden Vengeance used to run and most probably could be taxied. I don't think it has been run for a very long time now, at its current location in Narrellan, certainly not since Harold and his son Alan's passing.
