Anyone know where I can get an old radial engine cylinder?

Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:31 am

Hey guys, looking to make a lamp out of an old radial engine cylinder. Does anyone have a line on where I could find one? Looking for something non-airworthy that I could clean up myself. Hoping to make something along the lines of this,

Looking for something I could set on my RCAF Bar (work in progress photo before I mounted the bar top)

Thanks for looking! :drink3:

I have a few what I was told are 3350 cylinders, a Wright 2600, and an old Jacobs...no tappet covers though..Oh...almost forgot...I have 18 P&W R-2800 cylinders too, but you'd have to buy the whole engine!

Get a Trade-A-Plane and contact one of the radial engine specialists. I bet the get the request more often than you'd think.
And with the weight, shipping won't be cheap! You might be better off asking local Stearman/T-6/antique owners if they have any lying around. Many/most restorers have a core engine they hang on an airframe to help with plumbing/wiring issues before hanging the "real" engine later in the rebuilding process.

Thanks for the tips John, I have actually got a line on a cylinder from Vintage Radials as well as talking with Gary above.
