ID 'gadget' on wing of Bf-109?

Found this picture on another forum - any idea as to what it is?
Since picture is tagged 'LIFE' I'm guessing it was taken post-war (or maybe found in Germany after VE Day)

Possibly some sort of gun-sight calibration device?

Most definitely an early 109 with early camo so no doubt taken pre-war

I was thinking it is similar to moms old Sunbeam Mixer and maybe was a Death Ray of some sort. Think I saw it in a Dr Who episode.

Most definitely a scarce photo of the Mk II 'Kinematikmovimachinen'.

This was a mobile battlefield movie projector to keep the occupying troops entertained. (Whenever you happen to invade another country there is no guarantee that their movie theatres will make you welcome so it pays to bring your own along).

The movie screen was fabricated from all of the white flags and sheets they gathered as they swept through the low countries in 1940.

The operator ( or 'Projektorfuehrer' ) mounted it on the wing to achieve the desired upward angle, then they either taxied the 109 closer or pushed it back again to obtain clarity of focus. They tried to use it in the air but the plug of the power cord (seen in the photo) kept pulling out of the wall socket as the 109 took off.

Needless to say - Geschwader in-flight movies were a failure.
