* JULY 27: DND's Labrador CH-11301 helicopter arrives at the Canada Aviation Museum.
The last to be retired from the Canadian Forces, it is also the aircraft with the highest number of hours.
The handover ceremony starts at 2:00 pm.

Hmmm, I was at the Lab retirement a few weeks back and I thought Trenton was going to keep two on strenght for the next few months just in case they have more problems with the Cormorants.

The Lab will be greatly missed!

I remember 424 Sqn's Operation Rudolph in the late 80's and early 90's when they would play Christmas carols from the Lab and fly over Belleville and Trenton on the Dec 23rd & 24th.

Unfortunately not all aircraft can be represented in Ottawa, but the Lab is a very perfect example of an aircraft to retire to the museum!

I glad to hear that the CAM will get a Labrador. That new building is coming along just in time. There really is not more room in the current one to squeeze in anything more.

Have to see what I am doing on the 27th.

Any ideas as to what time the Lab will be flying in..I might be able to get to CAM by noon?

They might just have to keep an airworthy lab or two around!

There was a report this morning on the radio about a Cormorant from 8 Wing Trenton enroute to a call in Wawa. The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in a farmer's field near Campbellford because of a indication of low oil pressure or something similar. It sounds like the aircraft is still there as a ground crew works to correct the problem.
