Say that you're going to enter a warbird at the Air Races (unlimited class), and you had a choice between these two ... which would you choose to race with, a radial type or an inline type. Which is the faster design? Or rather the design which will accomplish the most amount of speed?

Radials have won more Reno unlimitied gold races than inlines as I recall.

A lot of it depends on preparation, the pilot, weather conditions, and luck. I think it is accepted that the inlines can be faster, but only for a few laps as they tend to overheat.

In reality I think it depends on how much money & time you want to spend.
