A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

Going through some old parts in the hanger, I've got a United Aircraft Products oil cooler, a fairly large one a that. Wondering what aircraft it might have been installed on
Searched on the internet to no avail.
AN-4080-14-A; Spec ANC-75-A
Thanks!

The AN4080 specification was approved in July 1942 and was considered inactive for design after July 1949 if that is of any help. It was last revised (and cancelled) in December of 1964.
The -14A "large cooler" has a maximum weight of 56.5 pounds and a 14" core diameter.
No idea what it was used on, but the dates might help to narrow it down.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's jumbo sized, to be sure! We were thinking DC-3/C47...

According to the TCDS, C-47/DC-3 should have 11 or 12" oil coolers.

My list shows it as going to a PV-2 if it's about nine inches deep. The only other option on my list for a cooler that size is for the A-35B-VN.
