Now I want to eat as many as possible. Wish they were easier to find and cheaper.

If you retire to Florida as many New Yorkers* do, you can eat the little buggers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was watching one diving show where several guys with 5 gallon buckets were spearing them and filling the buckets with ease. The Chinese Tallow of the Carribean...kill,kill,kill!


*As well as some transplanted Canucks. (IIRC)

Thanks, I do meet both of those qualifications but my retirement is far enough off that the buggers will have taken over the Atlantic before I get there.

I have read that there are now millions of lionfish off the east coast and they breed every month, and to make a dent in the population we'd have to eat about 25% of the population each month, so we'd better get some extra napkins.

Following various web strands from the lionfish story I learned about this fad of "invasivorism" where people try to eat invasive species whenever possible. (Won't work with those Great Lakes zebra mussels, they are toxin accumulators.) Sounds good to me, so next time I'm in Florida I'll order up some lionfish with a side of python.

Hmmmn, it might require the services of a more primal gastronome of invasivorismic capacity...tho oddly enough, they're another breed of transplanted Canucks...we're talkin' Cajuns here! Altho they're plates are full(pun!) dealing with the Asian Carp** invasion on the Missisip, maybe they're ready for something differnt? Might have to bring the Japanese in on this one...

*Speaking of zebra mussels, we finally found 'em in north Texas this year.

** There is a Chinese company who wants to open a processing plant here in the US with the capability to handle 10,000 carp a day exporting back to China.
