The Official/Unofficial
Blatchford Field Commemorative
Fly in to the Museum

From the first flight of a Curtiss Headless Pusher at the Edmonton Horse Exhibition in 1911 through to the closure of the last runway at Blatchford Field/Edmonton City Centre
at 11:59pm on November 30th will represent 102 years of flight in Edmonton City Limits.

With all that Blatchford Field has contributed to Edmonton over that more than a century, this is a place that cannot go quietly into the night, all that has happened must be celebrated.

The first of what the Alberta Aviation Museum hopes will be a series of events leading to that final day and working with a great group of grass roots aviation people the Museum is hosting a Commemorative Fly In to Blatchford Field by aviators from around Alberta on October 12th during museum regular hours.

For Edmontonians and visitors to our City we will be having some special panel exhibits of the history as well as our recently revised floor displays and exhibits. Come sign our special Commemorative Guest Book which will enter the Museum archives and learn why Blatchford Field has been so important in making Edmonton what it is today.
Regular Museum admissions apply.

Aviators…join us October 12th and to give some encouragement the Museum is waiving your regular admission (aircrew and passengers) in lieu of admission by donation.

Enter at the 100’ gate at the North end of the Museum and sign our aviators guest book, with your name and your passengers names and aircraft registration number, this book will also be entering our archives.

Parking has been arranged with Edmonton Airports beside the Museum. Other parking arrangements are also in the works.

Please advise if you will be joining us by e-mailing eahs.execdirector@shawbiz.ca so we can have an idea of who is attending and watch the AvCanada website and the Alberta Aviation Museum facebook page for more aviation related details.

Let's celebrate our past…
