As you guys know, one of the pilots that I work with got severely smashed up over in the UAE preping for Aerobatics Show 2006. On top of all the injuries that I knew about right after the accident, I found out a few days later that he had also broken his back and jaw.
Got a chance to talk to one of the supervisors this afternoon when I got in and got a follow-up on Dan.
The medical people in the UAE had managed to repair Dan and get him on the road to recover well enough that he was taken off of all oxygen several days ago. They deemed him healed enough and strong enough that they were able to airlift him to the UK for additional treatment by some specialist, as well as getting him strong enough to be airlifted back to the DFW area (we think). Cautious word is that he may be back here by the end of the month. It was also noted that Dan was consious and having pretty cohernet conversations with the medical staff and his visitors prior to leaving the UAE, which is a very good sign.
Hopefully he is on the road to a complete recover and will be able to get back into the cockpit one of these days.
