Hey Cam. Unfortunately I have not been on WIX much recently. Found this post and it was great to see your shots of the “Unserviceable” window you were talking about. Will be great to see it installed. Lets hope we have some more sunny flying days soon.

For those that have not seen them here are some A2A images of Cam flying with Bruce Paylor in the Tiger Boys Finch. Great times.

Cheers,

Eric

Fall is always great flying weather up here in Canada
Lots of wonderful fall colours
For us Canadians , this is Thanksgiving weekend
The same as last year, today I took my Wife's Grandmother (92 yrs) for her Thanksgiving biplane ride
so that she could reinforce the fact that she is the oldest person I have ever flown in the Fleet
I think she likes flying even more than me

Thanks for posting the Yale shot from the movie
I have never seen that one before.
If you look at the Gosport tube system hanging around Dennis Morgans neck you can see the rubber mouth piece at the end . I have a rare original and have made a mould. My next project will be to re-install the Gosport system in the Finch
And yes, a very awesome background .. . LOL

The N3N I used to fly had the gosport in it. Had a helmet with the earpieces and speaking tube. It is amazing how well it worked. Of course on the N it only went from the instructor to student. The student would never have the need to speak to the instructor as he wouldn't have anything intelligent to offer. Don

Lovely day for it.

I was in Guelph yesterday about 17:00, dropping off my daughter for university.

Where is that strip, Cam?

Dave
Sorry I missed you , I was gone by 14:00
That strip is Citinski Field, located in Flamborough , just NW of Waterdown
There are actually 2 strips end to end . Combined length is about 7000 ft all grass

About a 10-15 min flight from Guelph

Hey Cam,
That was great fun at the Tigerboys fly in.
We're always looking for great grass  Your friends at the CF-MAD foundation!

Well with the oncoming of winter , I flew one more flight in November .
At this point made a decision to repaint the Finch . The original restorer did a pretty good job but some
of the markings were incorrect and also after 12 years of flying her she was starting to get some blemishes here and there.
The aircraft was originally covered using Randolf products, so I chose to stay with that to avoid any compatibility issues putting a new product over top

To get myself back up to snuff for spraying butyrate dope, I completed the ailerons first.

Image

Then the bottom wings
Removed all the inspection panels and inspected the insides (all good)
Next , I wet sanded down the roundels

Then I sprayed everything with Butyrate rejuvenator

Image

Made a few minor repairs here and there, then sprayed the old roundels and repairs white so that they would cover easier

Image

One that was complete, I applied 3 coats of Lockhaven yellow dope

Image

The rudder is the next step and am currently c/out minor repairs

More to come as things progress

Hey Cam,
Looking good.
If you need a hand when it comes time to hang things back together shoot me a P.M.
I'd be happy to help.

Thanks for the offer Andy
Right now I am looking for somebody that may have an 18 ft trailer or flatbed to help me
to move the top wing down the road two miles.

We moved CF-MAD on Stan V's trailer.
Three times!

Let me know if you need contact info.
For two miles I'm sure we could make it work.
