Hi Rob,
Hi remember hearing about it being in the park, but by the time I went to look for it, it was gone. I'll check with some local friends to see if they know what happened to it.

Rob,
Yep, you can use the photo. Scott has always been welcome to use
any photos I've posted here.

Also welcome to these taken at Thunder over Michigan last year

while the f-86 sabre is the big brother to the fury ala the u.s. navy..... the fury always reminded me of the ww 2 luftwaffe messerschmitt jet job that made it to advanced mock up status, or actual prototype developement, but it never flew. forgot the designation, but it was a fairly long number. i'm to lazy right now to look it up, but i'm sure somebody will ablige me!! thanks!!

Rob,
I don't know if I have your email address or not. I can get you some shots of the Fury in North Carolina formatted for the registry. I have a large batch of photos in process for a registry submission, but I am currently sidetracked from that task. I can send you the Fury pics ASAP if you want, just email me.

I can't give you 100% confirmation, but I am 99% certain that FJ-4B Bu# 139536 last reported in Bethesda, Maryland was scrapped in the late 1970s.
This airframe was most likely the one located in Cabin John Regional Park, in Bethesda, Maryland. This plane and the YF7U-3M at Wheaton Regional Park in Wheaton, Maryland, were both scrapped in the late 1970s. I do have confirmation that the YF7U-3M was scrapped and my contact at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (which manages the parks), indicated there was a second airplane located at Cabin John Regional Park that was scrapped at the same time. The circumstantial evidence seems to point the the FJ-4B being that plane.
The only other possibility would have been that the plane was at Bethesda Naval Hospital. However, having worked there for a few years during the late 1980s and getting to know the base very well, I can tell you with complete certainty that there was not an FJ-4B on that base.

Rob,
One of my friends tells me that the Fury in SF went to the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa, CA. It is being restored to static condition. You might try dropping them an email for confirmation.

Rob, do you have the Fury that used to be at Seawolf Park in Galveston has been moved to Tyler, Texas. It spent 30+ years on a pole between the DE Stewart and the Submarine Cavalla. It was heavily corroded from the salt air. ( both ships were backed into trenches and then backfilled around them. The plane was no more than 30 ft from the water) Due to its condition the NMNA and stricken aircraft at NAVICP awarded it to the group up in Tyler. They have done a pretty good job of stabilizing it and getting it on display. Don't know the BuNo, sorry.

That's 139516 Rick, she's the second one on the FJ Registry with a link to
HAMM in Tyler. I'd like to go up and see er. I last saw the Fury at
Seawolf Park in '99 or 2000..I guess, she was showing bad ex-foliate
corrosion...most of which I remember in the tailfeathers and wings. Glad
the bird found a good home.
If Scott doesn't have a current photo waiting to be installed in the WR,
we'll have to get him one.

I haven't seen any photos of it on the Cavalla website other than some
old background shots in '99...

Yeah, I know Airnutz, I was referring to them in the generic sense for the sake of brevity.
