From what I've read about the way the vote was conducted, I think you may be misunderstanding things to say that the vote was "close."

The votes were collected over a period of time. 75% of the membership (potential votes) were needed for the management to "win". As the votes build up, they win when they reach 75% and can then declare victory. They do not need to wait until 100% of potential votes are cast. So just because they now have 75.1% of the votes needed to win, doesn't mean that only 75.1% of votes CAST favored them and 24.9% of votes were against them. See what I mean? 99% of votes cast could have been in their favor, but they can stop the voting when they've reached the 75.1% of all potential votes. That's my interpretation of what happened (except the 99% is just hypothetical).

Regardless, I feel your pain, obviously you feel deeply about the organization and the way it should go.

Therefore, it actually was very close.

CAF HQ got numerous updates from the auditing company along the way and Steve Brown traveled to various units to drum up support. That inevitably led to the Brown/General Staff victory. No opinion or angle in my previous two sentences, just fact.

Like my previous post said, I care more about the goals of the organization than the petty politics and personalities involved.

If you are correct, then the vote is indeed amazingly close. Maybe the CAF should do what the United States does when a presidential election is that close -- have the Supreme Court decide the election instead of the voters.

The vote count was accomplished by a company that counts votes for unions, stockholders, cities, counties, etc. It is a certified count and if the voter was unable to follow the directions on the ballot it was invalid.

I've seen the CAF slowly dying in Midland since it is in such of an out-of-the-way place. Have all you whiners ever tried to get a room out there to stay at a reasonable rate? The airshows are lucky to get 20,000 attendees, hardly enough to pay for an expensive airshow.

The HQ is the only part moving out of Midland, the museum is staying, and Midland will still have an airshow.

The High Sky Wing will survive.

As Taylor stated above, ITS ABOUT THE AIRPLANES! Get over your hurt feelings. If you can't handle to move, go ahead and quit the CAF. I've seen many members come and go in my 37 years in the CAF and none of them were indispensable, there are many people that can take your place. The CAF cannot survive as a "good old boys flying club".
