I also wanted to say I really like how well lit the museum is. To me, well lit museums seem to enhance the visit.

Here, here Pat! It is almost as if they want people to take pictures of their collection :roll:

And what a great collection it is...still growing as well. The docent I spoke with told me they have something on the order of 50-60 more aircraft/spacecraft on the way...and that does not include what they still have in storage. As far as he knows, Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby is still coming and they do have a spot picked out for her.

Do ya'll know if the unrestored Jenny (?) is the one that was hanging down at the mall facility? Any info on it at all? I love the way it looks...much like the Lightning, Black Widow and even the Concorde has bug splats on it. I for one like the au naturel look.

Yep..the Jenny is the one that used to be downtown. It was moved a couple of years ago because people were throwing stuff off the balcony onto it, damaging the fabric. Now if they would just get Flak Bait out of there before all the brain-dead grubby-fingered tourists rub all the original paint off...

Dang Steve, I forgot to ask about Flak Bait. I do have a few more pictures that I am going to put up here and I promise this is it. Like I said, I felt like a little kid at Christmas going there!

The photo of the Lysander makes me wonder if there is any movie about espionage in WW2 that shows agents being picked up and delivered via a Lysander.

Whoa. That Japanese aircraft under the plastic. Is that a license-built Me262? I wasn't aware that the Japanese actually started building 262s. Forgive me but I cannot remember what the Japanese name was.

The Japanese jet is the Nakijima "Kikka", Orange Blossom. Smaller than the ME 262 and had straight wings. I also visited Udvar Hazy this past May before Warbirds Over The Beach.

What are they doing with the Sikorsky JRS-1 flying boat? Is it undergoing restoration? If so, why did they assemble it? Also, it seems strange that they built that enormous restoration facility and didn't install an overhead crane that most basic military hangars have...
