This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I know, I know...another paint scheme thread but just read this one. Now I'm really looking forward to the ICAS Convention.

Pretty simple really, it's his airplane and he's certainly entitled to do with it as he wishes. I'm sure there will be some who will take to the idea he's disrespecting the memory of those who flew these planes in war, but as we all know, or should know, it's not his duty or obligation to memorialize their memory. Others do that job just fine.
As one who likes authentic, or close to it, military schemes over civilian schemes, I'll be sad to see his scheme go whatever it was, but as long as his new scheme is not too gaudy and disrespectful, and hopefully nothing too "statement" heavy, more power to him. Just for the record there indeed have been some real nice looking civilian schemes as well that certainly are appealing.
Just keep it safe and keep it flying is all that really matters ...

I'm curious...where'd the 352FG reference come from? I don't see anything in the story about that. This looks, feels and reads like an April 1 hoax...but if the 'stang in question really is in 352FG markings right now, I can guess which airplane and owner is meant, and given recent statements from that quarter, this could be genuine...! Time, as ever, will tell.

I think what Jack is making reference to, is the many 352nd FTR GRP color schemes on restored Mustangs flying today.
Sounds like this airplane might have something to do with a 359th FTR GRP P-51 color scheme ---------- don't hear much about those guys, one of the 8th AF FTR GRP's that got in the war late.........shot He!l out of a bunch of trains!
Kinda reminds me of my "Old Man", I think he got 8 locomotives!
