This really needs to go to the NASM, where at least the fuselage can be preserved and displayed under cover for many years to a wide audience. Too often, local interests prevent the removal of something that will in its current location eventually be lost to everyone.

This also goes for B-36s that are displayed outdoors. Ultimately, anything that is not inside will go to dust (yea, I know, everything inside eventually goes to dust as well, but at least our children may not live long enough to see that happen).

Ongoing Programs

(As submitted by the charity to the Canada Revenue Agency)

During the fiscal period ending 31 May 2013, association members successfully continued fundraising efforts. Plans to recover a Second World War bomber near Gander, Newfoundland, are being formulated. A local helicopter compnay has expressed interest in lifting the aircraft to nearby Gander where the Airport Authority has agreed to provide storage space. Work is presently underway to built a small structure to begin restoration work on a partiality recovered RCAF B-24 Liberator bomber, presently in safe storage. Efforts are continuing to document, photograph, and research historic aircraft crash sites in the province.

No you misunderstood the bomber near Gander is most likely this one mentioned in the article the B24 is near Goose bay 500 miles .away,actually that is a Ventura.

They mentioned the ventura in the first article post I am guessing that's the plane they are working on recovering. I'm wondering if the nose portion ran off though because a newer picture i saw looks like its not there anymore

I messaged the guys at NAAM. They said they are in the works on acquiring it but he isn't directly involved with it and will ask other board members about it. I should hear back within the next week or so.

He also said they don't physically have the aircraft yet (where it currently is who knows) but hopefully that changes soon. :supz:
