I understand Banaire is no longer in business. Does anyone know if someone else bought their parts inventory?
They used to advertise NOS F-1 fuel selectors (alternate part # AN4003-1) and I am looking for one now.
Does anyone know any other sources out there for these valves?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Banaire had the Teflon cones for the valve, but not the entire thing AFAIK.
I bought an NOS valve from Lance. I think they will give you a discount if you send in your core.

Thanks Brandon,
Just sent John at Lance an e-mail. He's got them in stock.
I appreciate your help!

Yes, they are the only reliable source I've found. I've found a couple on eBay I'm keeping as spares, but the one I'm using I got from Lance.

Does Lance have a website?

In case anyone is interested, I am a contractor working with the US EPA to clean up the Banaire Enterprises property now that the property owner (Lt. Col. Medore) has passed away. It was necessary for the EPA to get involved because of some radioactive contamination from burned and/or damaged radium dials at the Banaire warehouse and at an additional Banaire location. The EPA is currently clearing many of the items that were at the Banaire warehouse, for re-sale. The items will be returned to Lt. Col. Medore's estate and will eventually be put up for auction.

Was wondering what happened to all the seal / rebuild kits, rubber parts, doo-dads and
other T-6-related stuff Banaire had in inventory, thanks for the info.

Mike, could you describe how radioactive material is "cleaned up"? Does it mean put in a container and burried somewhere? Always wondered, never asked. Thanks.

Please let us know when that auction is announced if you don't mind.

Oh boy here we go again. Remember Jeff in North Hollywod and Chino airport years ago!!
The government and the slow removal, death and grounding of historical airplanes.
So Mr. EPA contractor are you confiscating good instruments or just ones that were opened up?

Mike S,
Can we have some more information on what all you are looking for and what is being done with this material please? We all would like some details on what are the EPA concerns about old airplane parts that might have radium.

I've been told by one of the Medore brothers that no date has been set yet for the auction.

Yes RobC, the radioactive material ends up getting drummed and buried.
Unfortunately, some radium-containing instruments were in a fire; some of the ash was contaminated; and some of that ash ended up scattered about on other items. The main problem is radium alpha decay. Radium particulates can easily become airborne or end up on one's hands, and ultimately be breathed in or ingested. They generate alpha particles that have mass and that will cause cell damage. But most of the stuff in the warehouse has been cleared and is going back to the estate.
I see bdk has a better line on when the auction will be held, than I do.
