Here is a link to a program called Chasing Warbirds it's an episode where they're in Papua New Guinea chasing down a P-38 for Jerry Yegan before he sold his collection.

I have this dvd, i bought it a couple of years ago from the museum gift shop. with that being said, it is a decent video. i very much enjoyed it. BUT they never say which P-38 it is. On another note, if you stalk pacificwrecks like i do. The video looks very much like Japanese SandMan 2. I do know from the plane list posted here and conversations with friends, that he has two P-38 wrecks, possibly more.

Thank you for the update Travis. I wish the History or military channel had more programs like this and fewer "reality" programs.

Is this the P-38 you think they recovered?

At least History finally got away from being the 'All Hitler, All the Time' channel.

http://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircraft/p ... 66905.html this is the link for the photos of the wreck in suit. The video is something like 45mins or so long. I need to find it. I misplaced it during my move. You might be able to call the museum and pick a copy from the gift shop. I'm not sure if they would be able to mail it. If not might be able to help in that area. I havent been to the museum for a bit, but was thinking of going next weekend.

I saw this programme on "History" or "National Geographic" channel a few years ago here in the U.K. I really enjoyed it, but was very disappointed that it was a one off, thought it was going to be a series of programmes. Hope they do another sometime soon.

Has anyone contacted The History Channel and requested they do some more episodes/shows on historic aircraft recoveries?

Yagen didn't sell the collection , just some airplanes, the museum will now resume also and isn't closing.

I saw the video on You Tube it is incredible what one will endure and go thru to find any type of warbird let alone trying to find a P-38 after almost 70 years. My question is this what is the current status of the P-38 Parts or Wreckage which Mr. Yagen has acquired? I believe that the late Murray Griffith had most of not all of the P-38 parts stored at his facility. Tragically Mr. Griffith is no longer with us, but does his place still exist, and who is running it now? Lastly what became of the P-39 is that now flying or not, and is it still owned by Mr. Yagen.
Perhaps Dave McDonald might know something about this. Or another Wixer that has knowledge of what is currently taking place.

I am pretty sure his Son runs the workshop now.

As for the P-38, I am pretty sure Digger could say something on that. I am aware that there is some substantial P-38 wrecks there at the moment.

Wow, that's a remarkably well done, "prime time" quality production. 8) I'd certainly love to see another half-dozen episodes just like it. That would certainly change my outlook on modern television programming for the better!

This can be considered "reality tv" as it's following a crew doing something. Always with the "time is running out" and "we've got to get -enter dilemia here- done now!" premise. BUT this actually has substance and doesn't seem to be permitted with "fake problems" that we're manufactured for the sake of ramping up the show. Boy does this need to get picked up!
