Awesome. I saw a blurb about this on the Naval Aviation Museum's Facebook page. The world can NEVER have enough Hellcats on display.

Congradulations to everyone involved in this fine restoration. It has always amazed me how talented people can turn a well worn plane pulled up from the depths of Lake Michigan and make it look pristine. Keep up the fine work. Looking forward someday to seeing the SBD, the Helldiver and the Wildcat looking just as nice.

Didn't the Navy museum in Pensacola already have a Hellcat on static display, and if so, where is it now?

Do you think we'll see one of the three Hellcats shipped out to a different museum now?

I hope not. A museum can never have too many Hellcats on display.

Besides the NMNA and NEAM, what other museums have a Hellcat on display? Kalamazoo?

NASM, PSAM, Yanks, etc.

I don't think NMNA needs three. They might move one to a friendly museum and retain ownership of course. The Intrepid could use one since the replica has seemed to disappear. Anyone know where it went to?

Kalamazoo of course still has theirs..I saw it make what was likely its final flight in 2000.

There's also this nice F6F-5K (painted as a -3) on the USS Yorktown.

NNAM has three on display. What better place
than the The Cradle? MINSI III is leaving. I just
missed her!

Do you mean Cradle of Aviation? If so, they too have a Hellcat on display there.

I think my friend means the Cradle of Naval Aviation.

Flying Heritage Collection and Planes of Fame both fly their Hellcats often.
