JM-1 /Martin Marauder B-26 Folks:

Yes!! some of them went to the NAVY/USMC c. 1943-44 & served mostly in target tug duties. For what we know most of them were bright yellow or Orange schemes. Some in bare metal schemes. There is at least one sample converted as a Photo-Recon JM-1P!

if you have any pictures or stories of these fine flying machines during those days plz post. Included is a sample of one of them Buno 665XX written on the V/stab & JM-1 on the rudder. (in most of them). If you know any data about their Navy/USMC Sqs plz post. I understand they also flew in Europe for target practice duties. Photo via AEC.

Yes. it's a quite unique flying tug target. The aircraft in the background is the poss Jet engine test bed at poss Baltimore Plant. c. 1944-45.

At least two very large blocks of TB-26G's were bailed to the Navy as unarmed crew trainers, unfortunately all my production list shows is the original Army s/n's but no corresponding buaerno's, just the note 'to Navy as JM-2' and Baughers lists are full of holes probably because of the obscurity of the type. And the photo shows a JM-2/TB-26G

Tks for the info/data. There are some slight differences between the JM-1 & JM-2. At the end the Navy decided to paint all of them Just plain dark Navy blue.

p.s What we are looking for is some data fm the NAVY/USMC folks about the Navy/USMC JM-1/2 Squadrons. The were pretty good at keeping data & photos of their Naval history. I also understand this is a very narrow area in the history of the Martin B-26s.

The two big block assignment airframes were l/n 4961-4985, 4467945-4467969 and l/n 5238-5269, 4468222-4468253 (55 total) originally TB-26G's later all as JM-2 I.D.s as a group, including the last B-26 built.

Tks for the info/data that reflects the tail end of the Martin B-26 production line. 44-XXXX series.

There is another block/series 42-107497/42-107830, c/ns 8761/9094 that we are also looking a bit closer for AAF 42-107640.

Note the nice emblem on the R/S of cockpit. I wander who the ladie was?? Their Unit/Sq used to be known in the Navy as the "Marauder Sq". The USMC used them in Hawaii, Guam & other S.Pacific areas c. 1944-45 also.

p.s Have a happy 2014 Folks...we 'are only going to be here once!!..maybe twice for some!!

Found some info/data about the JM-1 NAVY & USMC Sqs: (c.1944-1945)

1. NAVY: VJ-1-2-4-7-8-9-10-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-& 19!

2. USMC: VMJ-1 (With 6 JM-1 Units)- VMJ-2 & VMJ-3 all de-activated during 1945 & then sent to diff storage facilities in the US.(Reconstruction Finance Corps.) RFCs. These are the ones with the most colorful schemes, bright yellow & orange combined.

p.s What the numbers on the nose indicates: 15-J-2 = Sq VJ-15. J=Utility-2 (Poss the # of a/c per Sq).

When was the last JM removed from USN service?

At one time I did see a photo of a JM with a fresh O/A midnight blue paint scheme displaying the updated 1947 US insignia (i.e. additon of the red horizontal bar).
