In Memoriam Douglas C-47/ Dakota L-4. Viva the World's first DC-3 Flight Simulator

Hi all;

Not seen this one on here yet - Hans Wiesman, of 'Dakota Hunter' fame, has completed the salvage of C-47 44-76787 which was wrecked following a 'bridge strike' in Holland in 2010. After much consideration, it was decided that although the damage was so severe as to render the aircraft scrap, there would still be a way to ensure that it lived on. The nose will become part of a certified DC-3/C-47 simulator, various airframe structural parts will become art furniture, the wings and nacelles will be mounted as a 'statue' at the recycling plant, and small pieces will go into the limited edition "Dakota Flight Watch" . Hans is passionate about saving C-47's from the smelter, and IMHO is to be congratulated on preserving this old girl's memory. More here;
