Thunder over Michigan web site up

Just wanted to pass on that the yankee air museum's "Thunder over Michigan" show web site is now up. www.yankeeairmuseum.org

Hi Mike,

I had a hard time finding the Thunder Over Michigan page from the home page. I eventually found it, but by using Google...

...you might want to try placing a prominent link on your home page.

I am interested in photo pit passes, and would even consider one for my better half. Is there a tent for shade associated with it? That would help me make the sales pitch to Catherine.

PHOTO TOUR? Does that mean the aircraft are not accessible at other times of the day during the show?

Mike,

Yes it will be in a tent, with free water all day and free lunch. Also we are going to replace last years banner on the home page, with this years one in the next few days.

No, the aircraft will be accessible all day. The photo tour is a seperate, it is two hrs before the gate opens, and gives you the chance to wonder around before everyone else.

I should add that when you go to our web site click on the Thunder over Michigan DVD banner, that will take you to the new site. ( we will have the new banner up soon)

It mentions on the site that the Photo pit is going to be next to an active taxiway. What I'm wondering is if the aircraft will taxi by the rest of the crowd so those of us who can't participate in the photo tour can get a chance to watch?

Looks like a really great lineup so far, keep up the good work!

Kalamazoo kid,

I may try to make it out to Thunder this year, my first trip to MI. What is the nearest airport to Thunder with airline service?

Also, I may want to head over to Kalamazoo to check out the museum. How long is the drive over from where Thunder is?

I flew to Thunder last year. I remember the main Detroit airport to be pretty close, 15-20 minutes by interstate when the traffic was light.

The tent will be along the crowd line (40-50ft long) the rest will be open to the general crowd.

The mentro Detriot airport is 8mi away from our airport, it is the main Michigan airport.(all airlines go in and out)

Kazoo is about 1hr to 1.5hrs away

It's probably worth mentioning that the entire Yankee Air Museum website will be revamped soon. Tenatively everything will be going online by the end March, providing we get all the nessicary information for our different departments

The new site will be built on a fresh code base and have a number of new features. These include an RSS news feed, individual pages for the flyable aircraft, a real-life on-line store that doesn't involve downloading a PDF, and a drop down menu that will automatically create the WWII era single engine aircraft of your choice in your garage (Firefox users only).

(I can promise stuff like that because I'm not the webmaster, just the admin.)

The old website (which is just slightly younger than the Yankee Lady herself) will be retired and placed on permanent static display in the airpark between the B-52 and the Huey.

As Mike said, K-ZOO is not that far. Well worth a visit, especially if you like naval aviation.

Wanted to pass on if your interested in the photo tour or photo pit, please get your reservations done soon, they both are limited to 100 persons, per day. ( on the first day the web site was up, 15 reservations were made)
