Actually, no... we who speak the Queen's English actually spell all similar words with an "our" instead of "or" 8) .... of course I have had to adapt my ways now that I live and breath as an American. :)

Well. Mr. Allnutt, we ain't got no Queens over here....so it's Harbor...

Ok, ok, there's some queens in San Fran....and that area of New York named Queens...and the queens in Greenwich Village...BUT I DIGRESS...

Broken Welsh? You imply that there is actually Welsh that sounds "fixed"! :lol:

The Welsh actually bothered to use english (well, I guess it was thrust upon them). We couldn't be stuffed with another language so just decided to butcher what we had, english, and slow it down :wink:

Not as butchered as American english but.... :lol:

Except that Pearl Harbor is a place and an American name. I could agree with your statement however if you were to say, "The harbour at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii is home port to many ships."

I have many English friends, unfortunately some don't speak English well... :butthead:

What a funny series of replies :D ... it always makes me laugh how we all equally butcher a common language... even the Queen from time to time. Yes, you are right, it is a place name in America, so the spelling would be correct without the "u".... I just find the anomalies and differences in our languages amusing. Oh well, small things amuse small minds as they say.

I tried to resist...................

Hawaii is an American place and so its named Pearl Harbor because its American?????

Actually, Hawaii was originally an English colony, I think the Union Jack still plays significantly in regional flags etc, so technically speaking, it was the Americans who have changed the original spelling of Harbour to Harbor, even if it is a name of a place, the first spelling is correct as it was applied by the first 'English' speaking colonialists.

Having said all that we don't want to confuse our American cousins with Grammar or spelling because they may end up speaking to their grandmothers and that Hollywood Producer / Director fellow!
