A NEW UNLIMITED RENO AIR RACE TEAM IS BEING CONSTRUCTED!

Will Whiteside and Red Jensen are purchasing a Yak 3U/R2000.
This Yak 3U is a brand new production aircraft built at Avioane in Cariova, Romania.

The airplane currently is being test flown and as soon as it comes out of Phase One Flight test, we will take delivery and begin training to be ready for Pylon Racing School in June.
We are building a website and as soon as it is completed we will post the web address.

Name that plane contest!
We are trying to find an appropriate name and color scheme for this race plane. The name must be one that could be said in front of women and children and any name will be considered. If we choose your name you will receive some cool race gear!
You can send your entry to whiteside@aol.com under the subject line, type
“YAK RACER NAME”.

We use your name and you get some race gear!

Sponsorship Opportunities!

We are currently on a shoestring budget so any sponsorship or donations to the race team will be greatly appreciated. We have a few small sponsors at this time but at this rate we will really have to “lean it out” to make the fuel last for the whole race! We are looking for a large sponsor that would like to have theirs or their company name pasted on the majority of the Yak. Individual sponsorship packages are available for single-item sponsorship(Race Insurance, Entry Fee’s, Race fuel, oil, Pit/Race radio/Uniforms, etc. We would like to add a few “Race” systems to the airplane (ADI, Oil Spray-bar etc) and with the proper funding we could be shooting for a slot in the “Unlimited Silver” category.

We need your help!

If you would like to be a sponsor of a budding Reno National Unlimited Air Race team then this is your chance! Sponsors who contribute up to the Bronze package ($5000.00) or greater will recieve a ride in the race plane. Contact us for details.

Background:

Introducing Will Whiteside of Santa Rosa, California.
At Reno 2005, 34 year old Will Whiteside made his debut air racing appearance in the Sport Class. Will raced a Glasair III that is built and owned by fellow Air Race pilot C.J. Stephens finishing second in the Bronze category at 255.237MPH. For work, Will is an Airline Pilot, Instructor and for fun he flies warbirds and experimental homebuilts.
.
Will is no stranger to going fast and turning left though as he spent his years prior to becoming a pilot as a Professional Dirt Motorcycle Speedway Racer. At the age of Eighteen, Will began a five year motorcycle racing career that ended with a pretty ugly crash. As a long time model airplane builder and racer he knew what direction to turn and a few months later that became a new career as a professional pilot.

Will flew jet charter with an air racer from days past named Clay Lacy and after an opportunity in 1996 to fly with Racer Lloyd Hamilton in his Sea Fury around the pylons, Will had set a goal to go air racing.

Introducing Red Jensen, entrepreneur of www.redshangarone.com and long-time aviation enthusiast/ all around great guy will be a partner in the racing venture. Red is a pilot and a model aircraft designer. He is currently leading the industry with an electric RC unlimited flying hydroplane-thing.

Thanks! I'm really suprised that you are the only one to respond. I guess I missed the gist of the WIX forum. Oh well!
The airplane has flown about 6 times now and Dave Morss says it purrs like a kitten. Very smooth.
We are really excited to begin flying it and rubbing it down!
Cheers,
Will Whiteside
Oh, BTW the race name is "STEADFAST".................................Reno, Stead Field, etc.

Thanks for the interest,
Will Whiteside

I'm interested Will! I've just posted to your threads at AAFO and WAP rather than here. I'm currently working on an 82" Yak-11 model and, depending on the paint job you give "Steadfast", well, you never know. :)

OK
we are down to the point on the race gear and on the website that we need a logo that looks racy! Anyone who comes up with it should expect some bitchin' race gear in return!

On a separate note: We are looking for someone who could draw a pic of the airplane, off of a picture and add our paint to it for the Tshirt. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Team STEADFAST

RACER Yak 3UR2000 "STEADFAST" came to it's new home last week. We have been working day and night to get it in top shape to begin training for Reno 06'. We have secured a 3 blade spinner that fits on the 23E50 hub which is on the Yak. The spinner looks great and with any luck, will allow enough cooling air to pass. We have decided on a paint scheme that will be racy yet classy and show off the Yaks nice lines. Nice to have a life-long dream of owning a WWII fighter come true.
Thanks
Will

Here is a video of STEADFAST off the N.CA coast with Dav Vance in P51D "Speedball Alice" at the controls.
