Current bid $17,750. Just out of my price range... 
Fun fact: one of the previous owners, E.R. "Pony" Maples, also discovered the remains of the five Brewster Bermudas in Tullahoma, TN back in the early '70s.

Never mind...there's a picture of someone firing the gun in the 113-image gallery attached to the site.
Interesting conjecture that Lt. Woravka's parachute may not have opened because it was clipped on upside down, and he would have been unable to find the D-ring.

Mr. Maples will be missed. He was most generous with his time and was willing to share his collection with anyone who was interested.
He had a P-51 cockpit and a B-24 cockpit. Anyone know where they went?

Wouldn't you think that having matching serial numbered parts in one of the NMUSAF's .50's would seem to make sense? It would seem to me pretty plausible that guns would have been cleaned/worked on at the same time, and that parts could have easily been interchanged?

Only if it was registered during the machine gun amnesty, I think that was in 1968. Otherwise, it's a federal crime to even own the right side plate from a 'ma duce', per the National Firearm Act.

Nick, I'm not sure about the B-24 cockpit, but his P-51D 44-72254, which is quite complete (fuselage, tail, wings (rebuilt by Pacific Fighters), and other components), were listed for sale on Courtesy Aircraft last year as a restoration project that could be made airworthy, but I don't believe it sold. It is registered as N722WR.
