Yep, that rings a bell...the Hamilton was at a different auction, longer ago I think, and the bushplane museum at Sault Ste-Marie, Ontario was hoping to be able to bid on it, but its price went way too high. I think it had been part of the prewar collection that was kept at Anoka MN.

It was restored/hangared at Fleming Field in South St Paul, not Anoka. It was in a Hangar just down the row from Miss Mitchell and the Red Tail Mustang. It sold at the 2010 Auction to someone in the North West US.

Just an aside to the recent posts - the Hamilton Metalplane was restored and privately owned by Jack Lysdale and hangared at the South St. Paul airport (Fleming Field - the same location as the Minnesota Wing of the CAF) in Minnesota for many years prior to the sale (growing up I got the chance to see it on many occasions, and even climb in and crawl through it, thanks to the very kind and generous care takers). Having made and restored several seats of similar form, I will always remember my dad insistently pointing out the wicker seats. Today the aircraft is owned by "Pole Pass Airways" based in Seattle, Washington. Last I heard they were changing out the rare engine it was fitted with (Hornet), with a more available engine type, and also fitting it with floats (it had been fitted with floats when in original service).

I thought that it was really classy that Glyn got to fly in KA114.

Hopefully this one remains in the commonwealth, ideally in N.Z. or Aus.

Bit of a shame Glyn is selling his personal Mosquito project. I can only imagine what was going through his mind when KA114 took to the skies. Hard to imagine that we'd have an airworthy Mossie without all of his work.
