Thanks for looking! My plane had the black acid resistant paint slathered on as well. Must have been an afterthought as it was not under the battery tray mounting or under any other brackets.snj-5 wrote:No doubt, the "Aluminum" paint would be that concoction of aluminum paste mixed with clear lacquer that NAA used all over their airplanes.
Perhaps the other "unrestored" finishes I've seen (i.e., the black
