I see that sign is dated 1956, so maybe it's been out at Cordele a lot earlier than the 1970s - can anyone turn up some older photos?

I don't think it was there in the 50's since it was one of the B-29's saved from Aberdeen in the 70's in the saame time frame as the NEAM B-29...

I would love to have the gear doors and wing tips for our T-33... jeeze glad to see the USAF is taking care of my counties history so well..

Zane the real bad guy is whoever it is on loan to that is not taking care of it. If folks adopt a plane, then they need to take care of it.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the dozen Mystere IVs on the list, one at Pima and the rest at Le Bourget or elsewhere in Britain and France. How/why did USAF acquire these and how is it most of them are displayed in Europe? Similar question with the Hunters.

Shamelessly copied from Wikipedia:
France was the main operator of the Mystère IV and at the peak usage operated 6 squadrons. Most of the aircraft were purchased under a United States Offshore Procurement contract and many were returned to US custody after they were retired. In April 1953 the United States government and the United States Air Force placed an order for 223 aircraft to be operated by the French.
Ditto Hunters:
The Belgian Air Force received 112 Hunter F.4s between 1956 and 1957 to replace the Gloster Meteor F.8. The aircraft were built under licence in both Belgium and the Netherlands in a joint programme, some using U.S. offshore funding.

Zane or Clifford, did either of you take any closeups or cockpit shots of that T or C T-33? I've got a couple old Hawk 1/48 T-33 kits and I'm thinking about doing them as dioramas of outdoor displays.

Sad thread, particularly that B-29. I'd love to see a motivated young person take on that project like the Sandbar Mitchell folks have with the B-25. Big project I know but worth it, even if only an indoor static display. And I wish old Korea/Vietnam jets weren't so neglected in general.
On another note, I didn't realize there were this many planes laying around. Not surprisingly, no WWII prop fighters though.

I haven't, but I will drive to Albaturkey soon and stop at T or C on the way and tr and shoot the interior.

Thanks Clifford! I looked at a lot of display birds online today and I'm leaning toward modeling this one at the VFW hall in Covington, Indiana (image from Aerial Visuals):

I wonder if it still has an engine, since it's sitting tail low like the main gear oleos have collapsed. Does it look like the seats are gone?

Does anybody mind if I snag their pictures for the registry?
