THE BIG ANTIE!!!!!

I work near the Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Everyonce in a blue moon I get to see the big AN-225 come in!!! We also get the sister ships in the An-124's. Actually today there are 2, 124's sitting pretty on the cargo ramp. My office is almost at the end of one of the runways and across the street. The first time I saw her, I got a call to get my butt outside with the camera because she was taking off to the south directly over our office!! The wheels almost scraped the top of the building she was so low! But I lost the pix some how. But I still have this one, so enjoy! (NOTICE THE 727 IN THE BACKGROUND) :shock:

I remember one (of the 2 if I remember correctly) flew into Connecticut in the late 80's on a relief mission. With my parents we took the drive down to the New England Air Museum to see it. I remember it feeling strange to be seeing a Soviet aircraft up and close. I think we paid something like $15 each to tour it.

I would have loved to have been able to see it fly. Thanks for posting; I’ve heard that they sometimes fly in and out of there.

I see the AN-124's in and out all the time! I need to take the camera over to the cargo pad and take a picture of the two 124's that are there.

Looks like it was 1991.

Any idea way they fly in and out so much?

Some from my collection (I think my Dad took these, I'll give him create at least. He did shell out the $$$ to see it)

It is my understanding (I asked a long time ago) that they move oilfield equipment from Texas, to the Crimea and to the Caucasus areas.

As far as I know it is oilfield equipment. Im also told that most of the flight crew are British!

Elroy13's picture looks like one of Air Foyle's aircraft. They market the operations of these in a joint venture with Antonov Airlines out of London Stansted. Probably explains the British crew.
