NA-16 Folks:

Good day!

Many threads ago we had a discussion about the true iD of this aircraft ending up being of 1 of 2 NA-16s, S.of the border in the FAH inventory. Poss FAH #20.

p.s At issue here, is whether or not the L/landing gear strut belongs to this aircraft or not. Maybe some savy NA restoration mechanic can come up with some close-ups on the gear or any current NA-16 in the area for comparison.

It sure looks like an NAA-built gear to me.

Here's a BT-14 (NA-58) gear for comparison (the NA-64 Yale gear is identical)

Notice the rounded towbar hole and the mounts for the wheel pants at the top.

The only real difference is the two mounting lugs on the forward side (and presumably rear side) of the strut, which I'm assuming was either a mounting for the brake line or another wheel pant mount.

Looking through the Harvard Mk I (NA-49 & -61) Parts Manual, it shows a similar lug on that gear leg (only one though)

Hope this helps.

RCAF_100:

Good day!

It sure does! Tks. You are providing the best drawing/photo of this subject so far! It looks like the NA-16 strut arm was curved at one time & then changed to the 45 degree bent with the AT-6s.

p.s If you have any other angles plz post specially on the real aircraft.

Tks for the time & attention
