Her logbooks indicate that during the Tet Offensive she was doing gunship runs and medivacs.

She was flown in combat by Capt Stephen Pless, the Marine's only pilot MOH recipient.

It is an honor to crew her and fly her. I am in constant awe of where she's been and what she accomplished.

You can't believe how often she affects closure for the Vets and families she touches .

The Huey will be joining the Texas portion of the Wings of Freedom tour.

Jason,

Cool that you're helping them out with video work; good on you for that! I'm a yearly $$ contributor to their SAR efforts, and wouldn't mind checking them out sometime when they're practicing. Where do they hangar SnoHawk10? The background kinda looks like Arlington, but I'm not sure.

Thanks...

I lucked up and got a couple of flights on UH-1s when I was starting out in the Army, once as a ROTC cadet going through post-advanced camp training with a line unit in 1997 and another was a very short hop as a LT the following year. That one ended quickly with a main rotor failure. For years I would have sworn that we'd fallen from a great height, but a pal of mine dug up the crash report and it says we weren't even at 100 feet. I'll trust the report, but man it felt like we were falling for hours before we hit the ground. Didn't hurt anyone other than a stiff back the next morning. I was doing PT two days later.
We also did a tour of the Pentagon (imagine a bus full of newly minted 2LTs doing that) and while walking around the outside, a UH-1 painted in Gloss 'Nam colors landed at the pad. I'm sure some General who'd maybe been a O-1 in 'Nam had ordered that paint job. There was another VIP color painted one there, too. I dont think i got any shots of that, darn it.
After that, I never saw another UH-1 being flown by the military again, not even National Guard ones.

Sorry I never got around to answering your question, Tom... SH10 is hangared just off of highway two, by the exit for highway 9. You are correct, the location of the shots I posted were from training at Arlington. Thank you for your support, the team certainly needs all the help it can get. I've been fortunate to still be invited along on flights quite frequently. If you want to see more of how your money goes to good use, check out my galleries at www.FightToFlyPhoto.com. We've still got some neat videos/demonstrations to put together this Summer.

Jason, thanks for the update; I appreciate it. Very cool that you get invites like that to ride along and video their ops. Your website photos and vids are supercool; I love looking at all that, especially the Hueys in action. Well done!
