I am in the process of installing modern, civilian, receivers and boom microphones into/onto a WWII cloth helmet and a Korean Era P3 hardshell helmet.

My question is more tuned to modern, NON-noise reduction, headsets:

My headset has a volume control as do most modern headsets. Does this volume control run through an amplifier? Do the receiver electronics in modern headsets amplify? Or are they simply taking the signal from the radio plug and allowing you to reduce the volume?

Is there a volume control on HGU-55's?

Thanks

Volume control is optional. Don't know how it is wired.
