The last B-24 44-44501 rolled out on Dec. 30, 1944. I'm suprised it is painted. When did the US start with Natural Metal Finish?

Perhaps signatures are hard to read and don't stay on BMF as well.

Like I said, source per original post. Who cares when I posted it (other than you). As for the experts ... hence the "perhaps" is what it means. I agree that perhaps the "experts" will explain better as it looks as if you and I don't have the answer.

Douglas-Tulsa's last B-24 came off the line on August 1, 1944, and was in NMF- as had been most B-24s at DT for quite a while. I can find the range where they transitioned at DT with a little looking...

Can anybody tell me the pedigree/model of "Octane Ozzie" and "Longhorn?" They are sporting my turret in the nose and I am wondering which actual block of aircraft they are.

This probably doesn't help much, but the aircraft next to Octane Ozzie is 42-64053 B-24J-1-CF (converted to F-7A).

Found this pic which looks like the correct style turret.

Another marvelous thread, Mark. Thanks. Especially like the pictures of the Bond Tour a/c and crew.

I see "The Blue Streak" is marked with 23 (!) enemy a/c claims. I know that bomber gunners' claims were wildly inflated, but that one seems especially waaaaay out there.
