I'm not affiliated in any way with airliners.net, but I do want to make a plug for their expansive photo database which far exceeds just airliners. Their search feature can bring up all sorts of photos by tail number, registration, military unit, etc. Another technique is to use a keyword such as "Skyraider". Copyrights as displayed.

I believe these were taken at Nellis AFB when both of these airplanes were owned and flown by the late Danny Summers. AD-4N 126935 and A-1E 132683 were the subject of many photos at that show and these two images are personal favorites. Sadly, we lost Danny and his fiancee in the AD-4N in March 2011 & the A-1E is with Jim Slattery. Blue skies & tailwinds; thanks for supporting not one, but two of these fine machines!

My Dad flew this very same AD-3 (BuNo 122743), on Sept. 13, 1952 (and on many other sorties) while he was a 2Lt. with VMA-121 out of K-6 Pyongtaek South Korea (now known as Camp Humphries). See the attached photo of his log book. Two sorties same day, one was a CAS mission and the other was I/D (?)---> Don't know what that means.

This type of news makes posting these old photos well worth the effort.

Congrats on seeing a photo with a connection to your father. Great stuff.

AD-4 123827, restored by Dave Forrest, owned by Wiley Sanders, and now with Jerry Yagen is known to have been in Korea during the war, but I don't believe (AFAIK) any photos or exact squadron assignment details have ever surfaced.

It's a logbook goldmine just like the one in this thread that will one day unravel the mystery. Thanks for sharing!

I looked it up and found only this:

123827 (c/n 7133) reported 1959 as gate guard at DeKalb-Peachtree
AP, GA. Derelict there by 1966. Became N54162, registered as N23827 with Training Services, Inc
of Virginia Beach, VA

Not many guys can say they own an aircraft that had a successful ejection take place. I bet it has some gnarly rocket residue still in some nooks and crannies in that cockpit!
