Another Hero gone....
William "Wild Bill" Guarnere passed away yesterday at the age of 90. Guarnere was depicted in the World War II HBO series "Band of Brothers". He earned the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He also lost a leg in combat.

RIP sir. I really enjoyed watching Band of Brothers(and learnt a lot!) and I salute one of the last of them (or is he the last now of the original Easy Company?)

Godspeed Will Bill. I had to honor of shaking his hand and posing for a photo in Pungo a couple years ago.

Great, photo there. I've seen Band of Brothers a dozen times and never saw what the real Blithe looked like.

I didn't know of this news until just now.
I had met the man many times, before he was famous, as he came to the big WW2 re-enactment at Indiantown Gap in the 90s. Really nice guy, such a character.

I got pretty ticked off, a local radio station mentioned this last night and all they played were audio clips from the damned TV series. The man did plenty of interviews, they couldn't play any audio of the man himself???
