Friendly Fire Incident From August 12, 1966

The way it was reported by the St Pete Times back then. This is something many may not be aware of. Two USAF F4C's and a B-57 Canberra mistakenly attack a USCG Cutter in VN with tragic results.

The Coast Guard wasn't the only friendly force fired up by the US.

Australian Warships did conduct gunfire on the "Gun Line", HMAS Hobart was accidently strafed by US Jets during a US Navy Swift Boat firefight with North Vietnamese Helicopters; two Australian Sailors were killed aboard the Australian guided missile destroyer HMAS Hobart

Statistically speaking....considering the amount of aircraft that the U.S. had there, there were likely a few other friendly fire mishaps involving aircraft.
