Interesting stuff. In the first A2A shot of #29, it looks like the pilot has got a cigar between his teeth! :supz: Dem was da days!

I believe I've seen pics of postwar ANG P-47s and P-51s with no star on the fuselage, too.

This one is interesting for the one in the background. Anyone know where the "RR" code is from? In James Farmer's book Broken Wings there's a photo of an F6F-3, minus wings and tail, marked "RR63" on the Warners backlot. The caption mentioned it was used for process shots in Task Force (1949) and Operation Pacific (1951) - final fate unknown.

And as always, thanks for all the Glenview planes!

The Helldiver in the 5th picture of the first group is a CC&F-built SBW-4E. Interesting!

Avenger #69 is Bureau Number 91433 -- only 7 units from the CAF NCS Avenger - 91426. Obviously, they were in the same production batch and were among the last Avengers built.

In the spirit of the thread ...

Fairly common to see no stars & bars on the fuselage late in the war.

This oopsie took place at Foster Field, Texas on the date that's dodged into the print.
