Help me save a F-86H cockpit

Wed Jun 18, 2014 8:30 am

I am not one to ask anything of anybody but I could sure use some help. I am looking for anyone that would be interested in helping me save a F-86H cockpit section. I need to raise $4500+ to get it home, where I would restore it and take it to events so children and folks can look at it and sit in the cockpit and learn the history of the F-86. This is my only chance of ever getting something like this. I have been hopelessly collecting F-86 parts in hope maybe someday I can build up a display. Please email me at warhawknm@yahoo.com if interested. For those that contribute Im thinking of making something for you as a gift. Just not sure yet what it might be, but Im thinking a F-86 plaque or something.

Thanks,
Nathan

P.S.:

This is it:

Wow, looks like a nice find Nathan. I wish you success! Have you considered a kickstarter or similar type of fundraising campaign? Based on what you've said that may be the way to go.

Interesting... an early "H" with the six .50s instead of the four cannons. Good luck with the project!

I have an online fundraising in the works. I actually have several F-86H panels that would fill in some of the missing spaces. :drink3:

Thank you,
Nate

Nathan, do you need help in transportation? G.

I doubt I'll be getting it. Just trying to make an effort and things are looking south. The guy was going to deliver it for me. It's currently in Oklahoma and I live in Pa. The guy is going to give me a quote soon for the transport.

Nathan, what's the deal? If you want it then go after it. Make it happen. There's talkers and there's doers. Be a doer! :supz: You can do it and you've already started out nicely bringing it to the right folks attention. Keep after it.

Get it done Nathan

Its called wife wants to drown me in molasses, torch me with a flame thrower, and cut my pecker off! But she's just gonna have to deal with it. :drink3: I only have a month to try and save this. :drink3:

You're going about this the wrong way with the Mrs....Use the midlife crisis as your cover:

"Look honey, most guys at this point in their life go out and buy an expensive sports car and start hanging out with women 20 years younger than them. All I want is to buy and restore the cockpit section of an F-86"

Substitute "cockpit section of an F-86" with "go work with a bunch of old guys restoring aircraft" and that's how I sold it to Mrs. Saxman. Of course, the plane was up in Pennsylvania and not in my garage.

Good luck with saving this!

She'll do that at some point no matter what. Feed the kids, pay the bills, and if there is enough left over then buy your airplane.
