Are there some CAF aircraft that once flew on the show circuit that don't do it anymore?

Just curious,

Nate

I remember seeing a B-23(?) Dragon in Harlingen TX about a decade or more ago, wonder what happen to that?
Not sure if there is a Static aircraft with location list in the CAF.
Any CAF Colonels out there have any input?

The CAF B-23 Dragon was transferred a few years ago to the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, NY. (Then called the 1941 Historical Aircraft Group)

They are (hopefully) planning on some serious fundraising soon for a restoration to flight status.

There is/was a former flying C-47 in Midland that used to belong to the Great Lakes squadron when I was there in 2012. And I could be mistaken but I believe the Dragon was sold.

The one that I can think of is the Polikarpov I-16 which they flew at Airsho (it also appeared once at Oshkosh, but I don't know if it was CAF owned yet) and is now retired to the CAF musuem.

On a related note, will the non-flying museum aircraft be transported to the new base in Dallas?

Some of the non-flying aircraft (ie. the TG 3A glider) belong to the Museum which is separate from the CAF. Otherwise they are fair game For Sale, or reassignment.

I know this isn't the subject as such, but is there a list of airplanes that CAF crews have crashed and destroyed over the years? Someone asked me about this over the weekend.

The CAF's first B-25, 44-29835/Rowdy Raiders was retired in 1980 (due to corrosion issues?) and is now on display at Lackland AFB, per Scott Thompson's B-25 Mitchell in Civil Service.

Did the CAF's Mauler ever fly, or the AF-2?
