Tri-Motor arrives safely

Sat Jul 12, 2014 10:47 pm

Liberty Aviation in Port Clinton, OH. now has another Ford Tri-Motor to add to their collection of flying aircraft. This Tri-Motor was owned by the Evergreen Aviation Museum out in Oregon. Congrats to Liberty Aviation for acquiring this Tri-Motor as their are not many in the world in flying condition. Liberty Aviation also is restoring another Tri-Motor to flying condition as well. Check what is going on on their Liberty Aviation Face Book Page. The summer of 2015 should be very interesting at Port Clinton.

So the rumors were true. Surprised they bought a flying one when they have been restoring one.

The Trimotor under restoration isn't owned by Liberty Aviation Museum, even though it is housed there. I believe the EAA "Tin Goose Chapter" is the owner.

It looks like that chapter has now morphed into the Tri-Motor Heritage Foundation.

Not to stir up a tired, old debate, but is their airplane project a restoration or are they building a new one from scratch? I see it being referred to as a restoration but I thought this was a new build Ford. Regardless, it's nice looking work.

They are essentially one group all in the same facility, though they started out separately.
